A report from Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that Indonesia's beef import volume reached 223.43 million kilograms (kg) in 2020. This figure decreased by 14.80% compared to the previous year, which amounted to 262.25 million kg.
The value of beef imports also fell to US$ 698.18 million or approximately Rp 10.02 trillion in 2020 (exchange rate 1 US$ = Rp 14,364). This amount decreased by 15.87% from the previous year, which was US$ 829.85 million.
Australia was the largest exporter of beef to Indonesia in 2020, with 105.16 million kg. The import value was recorded at US$ 296.07 million.
India was the second largest exporter of beef to Indonesia. Beef imports from that country amounted to 76.36 million kg, valued at US$ 263.55 million or approximately Rp 3.78 trillion.
The trend shows that Indonesia's beef import volume has generally increased over the past five years.
