The list of Indonesian provinces that have sugarcane plantations in 2024

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the area of sugarcane plantations in Indonesia in 2024 reached 520.8 thousand hectares.

Around 318 thousand hectares or 61% of them are classified as people's plantations.

Then 142.7 thousand hectares (27%) are private large plantations, and 60.1 thousand hectares (12%) are state-owned large plantations.

In 2024, there are only 12 provinces in Indonesia that have sugarcane plantations, namely:

1. East Java: 239.5 thousand hectares
2. Lampung: 143.1 thousand hectares
3. Central Java: 55.9 thousand hectares
4. South Sumatra: 32.8 thousand hectares
5. West Java: 15.2 thousand hectares
6. Gorontalo: 9.8 thousand hectares
7. South Sulawesi: 7.5 thousand hectares
8. North Sumatra: 6.4 thousand hectares
9. East Nusa Tenggara: 3.5 thousand hectares
10. West Nusa Tenggara: 3.2 thousand hectares
11. Southeast Sulawesi: 2.8 thousand hectares
12. DI Yogyakarta: 990 hectares

The largest sugarcane plantations are located in East Java, which covers 46% of the total national sugarcane plantation area.

Then Lampung ranks second with a proportion of 27% of the total national sugarcane plantation area.

However, most of the sugarcane plantations in East Java are classified as people's plantations.

Unlike Lampung, where private plantations dominate, with a detailed area as shown in the graph.
