US to Dominate Global Almond Production in 2024/2025

According to data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), global in-shell almond production volume reached 1.63 million metric tons in the 2024/2025 harvest period. 

This figure grew by 10.52% from the 2023/2024 period (year-on-year/yoy), which had a production of 1.47 million metric tons. 

During this period, the United States (US) became the world's largest almond producer, reaching 1.23 million metric tons, equivalent to 76% of the total global production. 

The US has also consistently been recorded as the top almond producer for the last four periods, or since 2020/2021. 

Below is a list of countries with the highest global almond production volume for the 2024/2025 period: 

1. United States: 1.23 million metric tons
2. European Union: 170.05 thousand metric tons
3. Australia: 155 thousand metric tons
4. Turkey: 27 thousand metric tons
5. China: 24 thousand metric tons
6. Other countries: 15.65 thousand metric tons.

It should be noted that this USDA data refers to the harvest and marketing year, which varies by country.

For example, in the US, European Union, Turkey, and China, the 12-month period refers to August 2024-July 2025. Meanwhile, for Australia, the harvest season refers to January 2024-December 2025.
