According to data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), global oat production is projected to reach 22.67 million metric tons in the 2024/2025 marketing year.

This figure represents a 16.53% increase year-on-year (YoY) compared to the 2023/2024 period, which recorded 19.45 million metric tons of production.

During this period, the European Union (EU) emerged as the world’s largest oat-producing region, contributing 7.75 million tons, or approximately 34% of total global production.

Below is the list of the top 10 oat-producing countries/regions globally for the 2024/2025 period:

• European Union: 7.75 million tons

• Canada: 3.35 million tons

• Russia: 3 million tons

• Australia: 1.31 million tons

• Brazil: 1.11 million tons

• United Kingdom: 1 million tons

• United States: 984 thousand metric tons

• China: 850 thousand metric tons

• Argentina: 556 thousand metric tons

• Chile: 475 thousand metric tons.

Meanwhile, the USDA does not report any oat production data for Indonesia, as oats are not a primary or commonly consumed carbohydrate source in the country.

The USDA's global data for the 2024/2025 harvest season refers to a 12-month period starting from the beginning of harvest. For the EU, Russia, and the UK, the 2024/2025 oat season spans July 2024 to June 2025.

However, some countries follow different marketing year cycles. For example:

• Canada: August 2024–July 2025

• China: October 2024–September 2025

• Australia: November 2024–October 2025

• Brazil, Chile, and Argentina: December 2024–November 2025.
