However, growth in the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2024 (quarter-to-quarter/QtQ) contracted by 2.17%. A decline was also seen in the four sub-sectors of the mining and quarrying industry historically since the third quarter of 2022.

During the first half of 2024, the mining and quarrying sector grew by 6.18%, supported by growth in the subcategories of metal ore mining, other mining and quarrying, and coal and lignite mining.

Meanwhile, the oil, gas, and geothermal energy mining subcategory experienced a contraction of 1.85% (cumulative-to-cumulative/CTC).
