The 2025 Food Self-Sufficiency Budget Reaches Rp139 Trillion

According to Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), the government has allocated approximately Rp139 trillion (approximately US$9.1 billion based on an exchange rate of 15,200 IDR/USD as of October 31, 2024. Note that the actual amount in USD will vary depending on the exchange rate.) for the 2025 food self-sufficiency program.

This budget will be channeled through various ministries/institutions, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Public Works, the National Nutrition Agency, state-owned food companies, and others.

From the limited information revealed by Zulhas, the largest budget allocation will be used for fertilizer provision.

"For fertilizer alone, there's Rp44 trillion, but it's under the Ministry of SOEs," said Zulhas, as reported by *Katadata* on Wednesday (30/10/2024).

Furthermore, related budget allocations channeled through regional governments amount to Rp19 trillion, through village governments Rp16.25 trillion, and for the rice field expansion program Rp15 trillion.

In addition, there is a food security budget allocation for the National Nutrition Agency of Rp71 trillion, comprising Rp63.35 trillion for the national nutrition fulfillment program and Rp7.43 trillion for management support.

Zulhas explained that this budget does not include free nutritious meal programs. "If added with other nutrition budgets, it will be even larger," he said.
