The highest average price for medium-grade II rice was recorded in South Kalimantan. Based on data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS), the price of medium-grade II rice in South Kalimantan reached Rp 13,750 per kilogram (kg). This figure is the highest compared to the average price of similar rice in other provinces and exceeds the government's set Highest Retail Price (HET) for Kalimantan of Rp 9,950 per kg.
Starting September 1, 2017, the government will implement a new HET for rice, differentiated and divided into eight major regions. The HET for medium-grade rice in Java, South Sumatra, and Lampung will be Rp 9,450 per kg, for both traditional and modern markets.
Meanwhile, for areas in Sumatra excluding Lampung and South Sumatra, the HET will be Rp 9,950 per kg. For Bali and NTB, the price of medium-grade rice is set at Rp 9,450 per kg; for NTT, Rp 9,950 per kg. The HET for rice in Kalimantan is Rp 9,950 per kg, Sulawesi Rp 9,450 per kg, Maluku Rp 10,250 per kg, and Papua Rp 10,250 per kg.
