National Food Crop Production Increased by 0.61% in 2021

National food crop production grew in 2021. This is reflected in the increase of the food crop production index by 0.61% to 92.51 in 2021 compared to the previous year.

In detail, the food crop production index (rice) decreased by 0.43% to 81.87 last year. Meanwhile, the food crop production index (palawija – secondary food crops) increased by 0.35% to 108.29 last year.

Furthermore, the rice production index (sawah – irrigated paddy fields) decreased by 0.14% to 84.79, and the rice production index (ladang – upland paddy fields) dropped by 13.84% to 28.45. For information, national rice production in 2021 decreased by 0.43% to 54.42 million tons.

For the palawija crop production index category, BPS (Statistics Indonesia) recorded a decrease in corn production index by 0.68% to 156.61, a decrease in soybean production index by 29.07% to 23.86, a decrease in peanut production index by 7.24% to 52.4, and a decrease in sweet potato production index by 1.99% to 74.9.

Meanwhile, the mung bean production index increased by 11.5% to 76.39, and the cassava production index also strengthened by 2.46% to 72.98.

An index < 100 indicates that food crop production is lower than the starting position of the index, which is 2010=100. An index > 100 indicates that food crop production is higher than the base year of the index calculation.
