Various large animal species inhabit the oceans. One of the largest marine animals is the fish. According to *World Atlas*, the Whale Shark is the largest fish species in the world, weighing up to 21.5 tons. This shark, characterized by its spotted pattern, measures between 18 and 33 feet long.

Whale sharks are found in warm, tropical oceans and have a lifespan ranging from 80 to 130 years. Their diet consists of various smaller fish and plankton.

Besides the Whale Shark, the Basking Shark is the second largest fish in the world, weighing up to 19 tons and measuring over 32 feet long. Basking sharks are found in the Bay of Fundy, a bay located between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada.
